| Friday, April 30 2010 - Eight Speed River Athletes Set To Compete Saturday At Payton Jordan Invite |
Eight Speed River athletes will be competing Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, California. Leading the way will be Hilary Stellingwerff, who will making her seasonal debut in a loaded women's 1500 metre field. Stellingwerff will be joined in the 1500 metres by teammate Amber McGown. Speed River will have four entrants in the steeplechase, Dana Buchanan on the women's side and Rob Watson, Chris Winter and Matt Brunsting on the men's. Finally, University of Guelph Athletes of The Year Rachel Cliff and Kyle Boorsma will both see action in the 5000 metre races.

| Sunday, April 25 2010 - Milne Wins Twice In Busy Weekend |
|
Taylor Milne's busy weekend highlighted coast to coast action for the Speed River Track and Field Club. Milne started his weekend with a win in the Olympic Development 1500 metres at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Michigan. He then hopped on a plane and flew to High Point, North Carolina where Sunday night he captured the 5000 metres at the HPU VertKlasse Meeting. Milne's time of 3:42.46 in the 1500 metres at Hillsdale was his best ever season debut, teammate Kyle Boorsma was second in the race in 3:46.52.
Amber McGown made it a clean sweep for the River capturing the women's Olympic Development 1500 in a meet record 4:20.19. Teammate Rachel Aubry was second in the women's 800 with a time of 2:11.36.
Meanwhile in Berkley, California Rob Watson was eighth in the 5000 metres at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in a time of 14:06.84.
Rounding out a busy weekend of action was Eric Gillis' win at the Mercedes Benz 10k in Oakville. Gillis broke the tape in 32:17.5 to continue his undefeated season, he will next be in action next weekend at the Vancouver Sun Run. |

| Tuesday, April 13 2010 - "Steeple-stock" Steeplechase Clinic; April 24, 2010 |
The Speed River Track and Field Club is offering Canada’s only Steeplechase clinic.
The Speed River Track and Field Club is offering a one-of-a kind event, devoted solely to the steeplechase. This year’s “Steeple-Stock” will be a clinic taught by some of Canada’s best steeplechase coaches and athletes with aims to provide attendees with a fun, full-day immersion into the world of steeplechasing. There will be both theory and practical sessions concentrating on technique, nutrition, and training and how they all relate to the event of steeplechase.
The clinic starts early a 9am and ends with a fun wrap-up dinner (optional) at a local restaurant. Included in your registration will also be a souvenir “Steeple-Stock” T-Shirt and lunch will be provided. Additionally Speed River Track and Field sponsors, Power Bar will be providing product.

Cost: Early Registration $80 (Includes Souvenir Tee and Lunch)
Late Registration $100 (after April 20th)
Early Registration(Price $80) has been extended until April 20th,
after which we will be accepting Late Registrations(Price $100) until
April 23rd. There will be no day of registrations.

| Monday, April 5 2010 - Gillis Has Golden Return At Harry's Spring Run-Off |
Eric Gillis made a triumphant return to action after a two-month layoff following his recovery from the Houston Marathon in late January. Gillis captured the Harry’s Spring Run-Off 8k in Toronto Saturday morning. Gillis broke away from runner-up Josephat Ongeri on the final hill of the High Park course, breaking the tape at 23 minutes 58 seconds. Gillis’ win was the first for the Speed River club at the kick off race for the Canadian Running Series, his teammates Rob Watson was the runner-up two years ago with Taylor Milne finishing second last year. Milne was fifth this year in 24 minutes and 37 seconds with teammate Cleve Thorson finishing eighth in 25 minutes and 14 seconds.
