| Friday, July 16 2010 - Buchanan Moves Into Top Five In Canadian History |
Dana Buchanan continued her outstanding New Balance Euro Tour adding a 3000 metre steeplechase life time best to go with her 1500 metre life time best set last week. Buchanan finished fifth at the Karlstad Grand Prix in Karlstad, Sweden in a performance of 10 minutes 13.80 seconds. Buchanan's time moves her into first in Canada this year and also ranks her fifth in Canadian history in the event. The performance highlighted a strong meet for the Speed River group which also included Rob Watson third place finish in the men's steeplechase in a time of 8 minutes 41.99 seconds and Taylor Milne's fourth place finish in the men's 1500 metres with a time of 3 minutes 39.23 seconds. Watson and Milne are also both ranked first in Canada in their respectively.
Buchanan becomes the fifth Speed River athlete to be ranked in the top five in Canadian history in her event joining Milne (1500 metres), Watson (3000 metre steeplechase), Reid Coolsaet (5000 and 10000 metres) and Lydia Willemse (3000 metre steeplechase).
The New Balance Euro Tour will conclude this weekend with Hilary Stellingwerff in action today at the Diamond League meet in Paris and then the final stop tomorrow at the British Milers Club meeting in Lee Valley. |
